About The 101 Tour
John Wieland Hits 101 Homes Sold on “Get Housing Moving” Tour
ATLANTA (April 30, 2009), John Wieland, chief executive officer and founder of leading southeast homebuilder John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, today congratulates 101st homebuyers, Jason and Ashley Patton, at River Green in Canton, Ga., marking a close to his eight-week, five-city “Get Housing Moving” tour.
Wieland launched the tour on March 6 to educate consumers about the new home industry’s important role in economic recovery and the unique opportunity consumers currently have to buy new homes at deeply discounted prices and historically low interest rates. During the tour across the Southeast, Wieland pledged to sleep on the floor of his unsold homes until he sold 101 new homes.
Wieland logged more than 4,800 miles and slept in 50 unsold homes while traveling to Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., Charleston, S.C., Nashville, Tenn. and Raleigh, N.C., in the “Wiebago,” a John Wieland-branded motor home.
“The tour was a huge success and truly an incredible experience! It gave me the opportunity to connect with homebuyers, homeowners, company members, real estate agents and brokers. Plus, we’ve seen our best month of sales in more than a year,” said Wieland. “While I’m off my mobile mattress and back at home, I’m still fully committed to get housing moving on a national scale and get the American economy back on track.”
“During my travels, I was surprised to learn that hesitancy still exists with regard to buying a home given the great pricing that’s available to homebuyers. But then again, that’s part of the reason I started the tour in the first place,” said Wieland. “Through education, I hope to alleviate some of this concern, as unquestionably, the time has never been better to buy a new home.”
